We are welcoming Netflix with a new year, with more movies and tv shows in store for you! 


Netflix is widely the most popular streaming service to ever grace the screens of audiences from all over the world providing home entertainment through internet-connected devices and is a subscription-based streaming service that lets you watch TV shows and movies. Watching movies and tv shows on Netflix is considered everyone’s therapeutic routine, and stress buster. With that, Netflix has also changed the way viewers entertain themselves at home. With a stable internet connection, takes you to unlimited movies, tv shows, and documentaries with all kinds of genres. 


In the Philippines, Netflix became known and available in 2016. Back then, there were not as many content selections as today! Netflix Philippines now offers a variety of unlimited movies, tv shows, Filipino flicks; K-Dramas: Anime; Documentaries, and many more.

 

What’s New in Netflix Philippines this January 2023 


Record of Ragnarok - Season 2

 

 

Record of Ragnarok is originally a Japanese manga created by writers Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui. Its first tv series aired in November 2017 in the Monthly Comic Zenon magazine. Now its second season, the first ten episodes will be aired on Netflix on January 26, 2023, while the remaining five episodes will be released at a later time of year - as the upcoming season will be divided into two parts. 

 

Sitsit

 

 

Sitsit is a Filipino horror film split into two parts. The first part centers on a retiring photographer who has a yearning for a younger woman and seeks to attain youth through a potion. In the second part, an adopted stray transforms into an evil aswang while it leaves its owner in trouble. This Filipino folklore horror tale starts with Jake Cuenca, Ivana Alawi, Dido de la Paz, Sarah Patricia Gill, and Lehner Mendoza. 

 

Crash Course in Romance

 

 

The romance-comedy K-Drama series centers on a mother navigating the cutthroat world of private education when her daughter participates in the class of a smart male instructor who is well-known but shows no sympathy around people. The tvN series was written by Yang Hee-Seung and directed by Yoo Jae-won and will be arriving on Netflix on January 14, 2023. 

 

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist

 

 

The romance-comedy K-Drama series tells the story of an intelligent physician (Kim Min-Jae) who meets an eccentric teacher (Kim Sang-Kyung) and a widow (Kim Hyang-gi) and heals souls in the mysterious village after being expelled from the capital by the royal family. The upcoming season will be arriving on Netflix on January 14, 2023. 

 

The Invitation

 

 

Follows the life of a woman named Evie, who attends a family’s wedding and meets her distant relatives. Little did she realize that the gathering may not be celebratory after coming across a mysterious man at the celebration. Evie finds a way to escape from the festivity of hell and fights for her life. The horror film stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, and Sean Pertwee, and arriving on January 15, 2023. 

 

The Pale Blue Eye

 

 

Follows a Veteran detective Augustus Landor who investigates a series of horrifying massacres. Helped by a young cadet who soon becomes the world-famous author Edgar Allan Poe. The film stars Christian Bale, Harry Melling, and Gillian Anderson and is set for its Netflix stream release on January 6, 2023.

 

Ginny & Georgia

 

 

After many years of trouble past, a 30-year-old mother (Georgia Miller) has inspirations of putting down her roots in New England and providing a normal life for her family with the help of her 15-year-old child (Ginny Miller). The upcoming season of the Netflix original series stars Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry which will premiere on January 5, 2023. 

 

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House

 

 

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House is written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-Eda. An original award-winning depiction of Aiko Koyama’s Maiko-san Chi No Makanai-san Maiko-san’s Manga, following two close-knit friends who moved to Kyoto to achieve their passion of becoming Maiko. The upcoming series stars Nana Mori, Natsuki Deguchi, and Aju Makita, and is set to release on Netflix by January 12, 2023. 

 

Vikings: Valhalla

 

 

This genre-defying television series was inspired by a semi-mythical Norse, the scourge of Anglo-Saxon England and West Francia known as the sagas of Ragnar Lodbrok. The upcoming season stars Sam Corlett (Leif), Leo Suter (Harald), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Godwin), and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Olaf). Created by Jeb Stuart, the long-awaited season is set to hit your Netflix screens on January 12, 2023.

 

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre

 

 

The highly anticipated horror anime series is known for its spine-chilling selection of some of the most bizarre, and terrifying tales that will let you sleep with the lights on. Created by the mind of horror manga Maestro Junji, and will be produced by Studio DEEN. Shinobu Tagashira will reprise his role as director and character designer, while Kaoru Sawada will return as the scriptwriter of the show. It is also confirmed that Hozumi Goda will be reprising the sound director role for the series. Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre will release on Netflix, on January 19, 2023.
